Investigation of power and energy parameters of asphalt concrete milling machines

Abstract

This work is devoted to the study of power and energy indicators arising in the process of milling asphalt concrete pavements with cutting elements of road cutters. In particular, two specific types of milling drums and their interaction with asphalt concrete, depending on various factors, were studied. A mathematical model of the asphalt concrete milling process has been developed, on the basis of which a program has been created to determine the total cutting resistance forces acting on the milling drum. Finally, conclusions were drawn about the effect of cutting resistance forces on the milling drum, about the possibility of an optimal arrangement of cutting elements on the milling drum, about the expected higher level of productivity and lower energy consumption of combined milling equipment, as well as about the need for additional research in this area.
